Great Arty Gift Ideas for the Artist in your life

Updated: Nov 17

Give them a book of their favourite art/artist, or a novel about the art world

Fill a small basket or box with a few art supplies in their favourite colour

Purchase an online course to help them pursue a dream, or some gift vouchers to put towards one

Get them a personalised mug or phone cover, with a piece of their art on it

Buy them an art or hobby supply they wouldn't buy for themselves - for example a desk light for close up work, a work apron or a laptop stand

Get them some business cards made up - showing your support for their creative business

Get them something related to their favourite painting - for example if they love Van Gogh some sunflower seeds.

Plan a trip to a place relating to one of their favourite paintings or artists

Buy them a piece of clothing or something in the main colour of their fav painting. Include a postcard of the art piece so they know how thoughtful you've been!

Take a trip to a local art exhibition or plan to go a little further a field

Make up a winter picnic and head off to a pretty spot for some sketching. Even if the weather isn't fair, nothing beats a car picnic

Give them a home made voucher which gives them the gift of time - some babysitting, lawn mowing etc, to free them up to be creative

Plan an evening to watch an art programme they've been waiting to see - along with bottle of wine maybe?

Make dinner one night so they can sit and read an art book, or any book

Offer to sit as a model for sketching

Send them a postcard of their favourite art or artist every week for the following year

I'd love any one of these gifts, and I think it's always a good idea to have a running list of little things you'd like as an artist. If you're the giver, just ask for some direction, a website or make of supply maybe. That way it's smiles all round 😊

My paintings often find themselves given as gifts for artists and art lovers alike. You can see them on my website, or contact me for a video call - I always have more pieces in the studio.

If you're local to Worcestershire why not arrange a studio visit to get up close and choose the painting that's just right. I give a 30 day, no quibble returns, so don't worry, you can't get it wrong.

Alternatively you could give a gift certificate from the value of £20, which comes with a personalised handmade card, so they have something to open on their special day.

The gift of an original piece of art is truly unique and special to give and receive.

'Just want to say how much I love my new painting! It’s so lovely to have the painting that caught my eye on Instagram in my home. I will treasure it! Your packing was a piece of art itself-so it arrived very safely. Thank you and best wishes'- RH

I hope this list of gift ideas has sparked some inspiration and eased the giving business.

With love

Suzanne
